Kiku-Ichimonji on Wikipedia
Okita Souji

Norimune represents the collective swords (under the name of "Kiku-Ichimonji") made by the first Ichimonji smith. He's also summoned with an awareness of the story of "being Okita Souji's sword". It's fictional, therefore he personally hold no memories of it, but the cultural impact weighs heavily on him.

In 2205, a force known as the history retrograde army emerged in order to change the past. In response, the Chronos Ministry employs Saniwa sages (player characters), who would summon Touken Danshi (sword spirits granted human forms) in order to fight the enemies throughout different time periods.

Unlike most of the current swords, Ichimonji Norimune was one of the handful of swords who work at the government. During the Keiou Koufu incident, he oversaw the mission as an Inspector and evaluated the participating citadel's sword squad's performances. After a successful mission, he gave his evaluation (they passed, hurrah!) and bid them farewell.

Except no, afterwards, he got assigned to the successful Citadel and will join them in the war as a fellow warrior.

Personality answers:

Who in your character's canon influenced the most growth in your character? What do they think about this character?
Kashuu Kiyomitsu. As one of Okita Souji's (real) swords, Norimune hold a special interest in Kashuu. During the Keiou Koufu mission, he would tease, test and cryptically tell stories to Kashuu. Why? He wishes to hear and see how Kashuu reacts, from a "fictional Okita's sword" to a "real Okita's sword". But more importantly as a result, Norimune discovered he wish for someone to listen to his story. Something Kashuu offered to do afterwards (and likely, and very superficially, almost regret it). Such a realisation and offer touched Norimune deeper than he expected. After all, they're all weapons and Norimune's still learning about having a "heart". Plus, Norimune get a new comrade he likes to bother after being reassigned to Kashuu's Citadel!

Explain which event in canon is most pivotal to your character's development, and who they are today.
Special Investigation: Keiou Koufu was a special mission where Norimune acted as the government assigned inspector to evaluate the player's sword squad's performance. This mission was significant to Norimune because it focused on the Shinsengumi's role in history, as well as mysterious appearance of a fake Okita Souji (who WASN'T supposed to be here) running around. Norimune would find himself pondering a lot about Okita Souji, his impact on history, and how he acquired the story of "Okita Souji owned a Kiku-Ichimonji". From the beginning to the end of the mission, he thinks about stories, and more importantly, "what is love" to humans. Although he gained a human body and heart, it doesn't mean he immediately understand emotions. It'll become a constant philosophical question for him until his next canon character development. (unfortunately, it haven't happened yet as of this time of apping)

Your character must live with only one sense for a year. They are allowed to choose. What do they pick? Why? How do they cope?
The sense of touch. As he's always been a sword, he's intimately familiar with the sense of touch the most. It does mean he's more reliant on others to guide and direct him. Which, to a sword, wasn't so different from his life before he gained a human body. The sense of vulnerability, trust and thrill will likely intrigue Norimune, if he keep his human body for the experience. Will he hate it? Probably, but it's still an interesting situation for Norimune to potentially deal with.

What would it take to truly upset your character, enough that they would act upon their feelings? Are they the sort to forgive?
Anything involving Okita Souji and his fictionalised story as his sword. Norimune's very confident in his identity as the Ichimonji school's (symbolic) former head/boss. But it's the story of being Okita Souji's sword and how it exist that can unsettle him. As his existence is influenced by humans and their beliefs, it makes him wonder how easily his existence can change and being remembered as humanity wish. With the right angle, he could act upon it if he's upset enough to hurt others. The only way to stop him would be to defeat him in battle, or he receive direct orders to stand down (he's still a weapon, after all) from his current master.

But despite all that, Norimune can't hate humans. Whether he can "forgive" will be a topic he'd be fascinated by, if he's not personally troubled by it (he prefers WATCHING other people's struggles, not deal with it himself!). It'll be an enlightening experience for Norimune, and how he can tackle his own "humanity" if he thinks have any or not.

Inventory:
His fan
Internal Affairs/Casual outfit
Inspector uniform (it's just neat, okay)

Powers/Abilities:
Norimune is a Touken Danshi, a sword tsukumogami manifested with a physical human body. As a result, he's stronger than a typical human with more power, speed and stamina in comparison. But he can still get injured and even die like any mortal being. He also has heightened spiritual sense, making it easier for him to sense spirits and auras (for example, fellow spirits and spiritually powerful humans). He won't be able to pinpoint their exact location, but he can note something is odd if he walks close enough to the general area.

His life is tied to his original body, the Kiku-Ichimonji Norimune sword. Any damage to it will reflect on his human body. If it breaks, he will die.

If he's drastically too drained, it's possible for his human body to disappear and leave only his sword (with his spirit inside) left behind. He can regain his human body after recovering his spiritual energy over time, but it can leave him dangerously vulnerable.

Norimune can also, with high level of trust, allow other people to wield his sword for him. The other person can hear his voice and get empowered by his spiritual energy for battle. This is something I only offer as a personal plot for another player's character due to high IC trust required. I can play without this option, if the mods deem it so.

Player Goals: I enjoy playing Norimune in various situations, since he's a silly old man who is both a spirit and a weapon. He can bounce off both silly and serious scenarios, no matter who he's with. I also like touching on his nature/morality as a weapon vs his individuality, so that's usually fun to toss at people. Turns out a weapon doesn't think or worries about stuff like a human, huh?

For this game specifically, the Natural Souls mechanic give me plenty of ideas to make his nonhumanity better (worse?), plus I think the changes would be neat in general.
